Give your candles a new lease of life
Do you know that feeling? Your favourite candle has burnt right down to the wick, but the lovely glass jar really deserves better than the bin. Good news: with these tips, you can easily transform our high-quality glass jars into practical and decorative items for your home. This way, you not only get to enjoy your favourite products for longer, but you also give them a sustainable new lease of life.
A clean new start
Has your candle burnt out or is the bottle from your fragrance sticks empty? If so, make sure you clean the glass thoroughly before giving it a new lease of life.
- Candles: Fill the glass with hot water or place it in the freezer for at least 2 hours. This will loosen any wax residue. Don’t forget to remove the wick holder. In many cases, you can easily peel this off with your fingernails. Finally, wash the glass thoroughly with warm water and a degreasing washing-up liquid.
- Fragrance sticks: Fragrance oil leaves a stubborn film. Fill the bottle with warm water and a generous splash of washing-up liquid or bicarbonate of soda. Leave it to soak overnight. Then use a bottle brush or a sturdy straw cleaner to scrub the inside until it’s free of oil. Rinse with vinegar for extra shine.
A new favourite storage solutionEmpty candle jars are often far too pretty to throw away. So why not give them a new lease of life as handy storage containers?
