Privacy policy

Spaas Kaarsen N.V. takes your privacy seriously. The EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which goes into effect starting on 25 May 2018, does nothing to change that fact. This regulation replaces the earlier Privacy Directive 95/46/EG from 1995. The most significant difference between these regulations is that we will now communicate with greater transparency which personal data we keep and what we do with these data.

Although most of the information on this site is available without you having to provide personal data, we do request it in certain cases. From now on, we may only use these data with your explicit permission. According to the aforementioned regulation, by registering for our newsletter or by purchasing a product in our webshop, you grant us permission to use your data to communicate with you and/or to be able to fulfill a contractual obligation (home delivery of the product).

Which data do we collect from you?

For marketing and communication purposes, we collect the following data via the website:

  • Your surname and first name
  • Your e-mail address
  • Address data (optional; if relevant, e.g. so we can send you something).
  • Date of birth (optional; if relevant for providing you with more targeted information or to surprise you on your birthday)

From the members of our consumer panel, we collect personal preferences, which we process anonymously and in aggregate.

Spaas Kaarsen N.V. may collect anonymous or aggregate data of a non-personal nature, such as your browser type or IP address, the operating system you use or the domain name of the website whose link led you to the Spaas Kaarsen N.V. website or that which you followed to leave the website. This makes it possible for us to optimise the Spaas website for the users.

We use your data in the context of our own marketing and sales activities:

  • to inform you about our products and marketing activities via newsletters, e-mail etc.

In conformity with this GDPR, you have the legal right to inspect, correct, if necessary, or delete your personal data. Provided that you can prove your identity (copy of identity card) and that you make your request via a written, dated and signed letter addressed to Spaas Kaarsen N.V., including your address and e-mail address, you can gain access to your personal data.

Safeguarding your data

What is considered to be personal data?

Art. 4.1. GDPR: “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.”

In other words, personal data is any information whatsoever which can directly or indirectly identify a natural person. This also includes IP addresses, human tissue and anonymous versus pseudonymous data. (Data anonymization is the only way to completely de-personalise data.)
