06 Jun 2025

With airfare prices soaring, you might be looking for a budget-friendly alternative. With a camping trip in your own garden, you are sure to score. Sleeping under the stars, socialising by the campfire and ending the evening with toasted marshmallows. Delicious! And with the enlightening glow of outdoor candles, camping really becomes a magical experience. Discover our tips to make it a wonderful activity.

The staycation upgrade

You certainly don't have to go far for those camping jitters. Your own backyard can sometimes already be the perfect spot. An ideal activity to slow down and connect with your loved ones, at your own pace. And with a clean shower and toilet nearby! 😉

Outdoors

Ultimate camping fun

These activities will make your camping trip not only relaxing, but also playful and memorable.

  • Astro-Adventure: Print out a star chart and turn it into a competition. Who will spot the Great Bear first? The loser does the dishes.
  • Campfire Karaoke: Compile a Spotify list of acoustic songs and sing-alongs and turn it into a musical evening. This can even include fun duets and matching dances.
  • Eco-Expedition: Make a bingo card with things you can spot, such as a butterfly, a mushroom or a rabbit's paw print. Don't have a big garden? Then go take a walk in a nearby forest.

Marshmallows and more

What's on the menu? Nothing beats the smell of a sizzling campfire to prepare your meal. Think crusty baguette with melted cheese, a steaming one-pot meal full of flavour and the classic marshmallows slowly caramelising over the campfire. Pull your camping chair a little closer to the fire, grab that grill grate and enjoy!

Camping by candlelight

Make sure you have an atmospheric camping site to make it a magical evening. Hang a garland of lights in your tent and dress up your garden with cosy outdoor candles. Thanks to their beautiful and sturdy flame, they provide brilliant points of light in the dark. Like stars in the sky on a midsummer night. Lay down a soft plaid with some cushions and end the evening together under the beautiful starry sky.

Sleep in style

An important factor of camping: your sleeping place. Whether you opt for a spacious tent and an air mattress or sleeping outdoors, extra blankets and pillows will make it cosy anyway. Luckily, your own pillow is within reach and ensures a good night's sleep. Do you like to go that extra mile? Hang homemade flags or a colourful fabric cloth for a playful look. And don't forget to put out those outdoor candles before you close your eyes. 😊
