Spring Ideas

Candles decorated with accessories. With spring on the way, many families are busily making arrangements for communion parties, family get-togethers or garden barbecues. Spaas has some original tips for decorating pillar and rustic candles with an accessory to make sure that your candle brings an extra touch to your table.

Tip 1:

Cover your candle with accessories like cinnamon sticks or dried flowers

One of the classic accessories for decorating your candle is a cinnamon stick. Place a bunch of them alongside each other around the candle. Here again, you can use an iron first to soften up the candle along the outside to make the cinnamon sticks remain in place. Then wind a piece of string or a ribbon around them and that’s it! Instead of cinnamon sticks, you can of course use flowers, plants or other materials.

Tip 2:

Cover your candle with pieces of cloth or ribbons

Always remember that accessories that you put around a candle may burn. So choose sufficiently thick candles or materials that are unlikely to catch fire. To make sure the flame stays in the middle of the candle, you can blow out the candles one hour after it was first lit. The hollow that forms will become deeper and deeper when the candle is relit.

Tip 3

Cover your candle with paper serviettes

  1. Take a neutral candle and paper serviette with a colourful pattern.
  2. Tear off the top layer of the serviette and throw the rest away.
  3. Place the layer neatly on the candle and position it so that the serviette wraps around the entire candle.
  4. Take a heated iron (low temperature) and put it on the serviette. The candle grease below it will melt and be absorbed into the paper.
  5. Pull the serviette tight and allow the melted candle grease to set. Cut away the superfluous pieces of paper and you’ll get an attractively decorated candle.
